Dear friends and family,
I have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity coming up in July that I would love to tell you about! I have made the decision to go with my church, Coastal Community Church, to the Village of Thubelisha in South Africa on a short-term mission trip July 16-25th. We will be working with an organization called Children’s Cup.
About Children’s Cup:
It was founded in 1992 by missionaries Dave and Jean Ohlerking, who began to work in Africa by feeding hungry children and doing so with a determination to make a lasting impact through sustainable community transformation. Twenty-one years later, they are seeing the fruit of their labor. Children, who came to their CarePoints hungry and desperate for food and hope, now have grown into bright, hope-filled young adults leading the way in their families and communities. CarePoints are places where children are given meals, medical care, character development, education, assistance and Jesus. Coastal Community Church has been partnering with Children’s Cup for the past couple of years, and this will be the second year we are sending a team to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of children in Africa.
I am excited about this opportunity for several reasons but here are a few:
· It will change my outlook and better equip me to serve others in my community when I return. For those that follow me on social media, you may have noticed my passion to “serve” and the work we have been doing in a local community, Collier City.
· My trip in 2013 to the LA Dream Center brought to life something in me that I didn’t know was there and sometimes it takes changing your environment to bring it out and act on it.
· Africa is a huge step out of my comfort zone, which means GROWTH! I’m excited for how God will use me to reach others in South Africa. At the Care Points I hope to demonstrate the love, hope and faith that Jesus did in the early days.
· I know the Lord will not give me passion without giving me provision; this is yet another test of my faith where I am learning to lean on Him and grow in my spiritual walk.
In order to make this journey, I will need some assistance with:
Prayer! I need friends and family to pray for me, and our team. I would love for you to pray for strength emotionally, physically, and spiritually as well as meeting my financial needs required for this trip.
· Finances! I am raising funds to cover the cost of my trip, which is $3,800. I would love for friends and family to partner with me financially. This cost covers my airfare, lodging, transportation and meals during my time in Africa. I would like to ask you to consider making a donation. Take some time to think and pray about it. If you are led to help out with this need it would be greatly appreciated! Every little bit counts.
The first deposit of $250 is due by March 4th. The next payment of $2,300 is due April 4th, and the final deadline for turning in the remaining $1,250 is June 4th.
Donations made through this site are subject to a 5% fee for site use and are not tax-deducatable.
Checks can be mailed to: 4119 Crystal Lake Drive, Deerfield Beach, FL 33064
*Please make checks out to Coastal Community Church with “South Africa Missions Trip” in the memo. My name cannot be anywhere on the check if you want a tax write-off. My name may be written on a post-it note and stuck to the check.
Please feel free to call me with any questions about my trip or the ministry that I will be doing there. You can private message me for my number! Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I pray that you can be God’s hand extended to the children of South Africa!
Blessings,
Kim Maas
