My mother has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her work does not offer insurance and she makes too much to qualify for any government assistance. No hospital will even see her without 450$+ dollars just to see her. This is not including surgery to remove the cancer or find out how bad it actually is.
She's worked her whole life doing everything she can for other people. She's worked for 26 years at the same retirement center. She would do anything she could for someone in need, but now she's the one who needs help. Any little bit will help.
