On December 5th 2018, Deja suffered a severe Asthma attack causing her to go into Cardiac Arrest. The lack of oxygen resulted in a Traumatic Brain Injury(TBI) leading to a syndrome called Paroxysmal Sympathetic Hyperactivity(PSH) which is characterized by “storms” of increased heart rate, blood pressure and involuntary movements. Deja never regained consciousness, was taken off life support on December 30 and went to be with the Lord December 31/2018.
Our family suffered the greatest loss losing Deja at the tender age of 24 years young. Deja was a Health Care Aide and talked about going back to school to get her degree in Nursing, a career she was designed to do. Deja was beautiful on the inside, as she was on the outside. Deja was very humble with a heart of gold. She knew no stranger and loved, accepted and forgave with ease. She had a certain light about her, a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh.
We are raising money for a Memorial Picnic Bench to be installed at the Mitford Baseball Diamonds in Cochrane, Alberta. It was Deja’s “HAPPY PLACE”. This location over looks the Bow River and the Rocky Mountains where a person can sit and reflect, enjoy a sunrise, or the sunset - something Deja loved too. Even if you didn’t know Deja personally, this location would just be a slight reflection of who she was.
