Help with Open Heart Surgery

Hello! My name is Karissa, and the Masimers hold a special place in my heart. Their youngest son, River, has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). He had his third open heart surgery on June 7th, and has had a rough recovery. They have 5 other children. They are doing their best to balance life with River in the hospital and mom staying with him, while dad takes care of the other children, works when he can get a sitter, pay the bills, and makes trips back and forth to Columbus to visit River and Kayla.  

My husband and I have been through a similar circumstance with our daughter, who also had HLHS, and understand how hard it is to ask for help. The truth is, that help from family and friends was priceless in helping us get through the hardest parts of our journey. It provided us the ability to not worry so much about work and to stay by our girl’s side. We hope to help the Masimers in some small way, and hope others will join us by taking some of the financial worry away while they are by River’s side.
