Dear Friends, Family, and Kind souls…
I never imagined myself in this position, but life has a way of throwing unexpected challenges our way. My name is Cassidy, 25F. I’m a preschool teacher who has been working with kids all my life and I'm facing the battle of my life: cancer.
On March 9th I went to the hospital with stomach pains, and got the diagnosis no one ever wants to hear; acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. In an instant, everything changed. That night, I had to pack up my things, say goodbye to my fiancé and our puppy, move to hospital, and immediately begin the most terrifying journey of my life.
I’ve spent most of my days at the hospital since then receiving chemotherapy, radiation, anti-bodies, and dealing with the traumatic side effects that come with it. I’ve lost most of my muscle and for a time was unable to even walk on my own. The scariest part I’d say was when my liver was weak and I was suffering from jaundice symptoms.
It got so bad my mom retired from her job of 25+ years to spend weeks with me inside the hospital as we didn’t know what would happen next. The nurses were very nice but my mom was the real support I needed. Day and night, only going home once a week to help with laundry and such.
We found out the hard way my body was rejecting the strongest most common chemotherapy drug; Asparagenese, and it was weeks of waiting for the hospital to approve a different method of treatment in the form of antibodies.
Like many who have walked this difficult path, I've been hit with a diagnosis that has turned my world upside down. But in the face of adversity, I choose hope. I refuse to let cancer define me or dictate my future.
Recovery is not just about medical treatments; it's about healing the body, mind, and spirit. That's why I'm reaching out to you today. I need your support, not just financially, but emotionally and spiritually as well.
The road ahead is long and uncertain, but with your help, I know I can overcome this hurdle. Your donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference in my fight against cancer.
This unfortunate diagnosis now puts me in a position where I am unable to return to my work with the kids for the foreseeable future. This grossly affects my affordability to keep up with all my financial responsibilities. The mortgage, the car, the dog, medications, the rising cost of groceries… the list goes on.
My mom has retired early to help out as I’ll need day to day care as I recover outside the hospital. Whether it goes towards being able to give back to those who are giving up for me, the cost of medication, new therapies, or simply covering everyday expenses, every penny counts.
But beyond the financial aspect, your words of encouragement, prayers, and positive energy mean the world to me. Knowing that I have a community rallying behind me gives me strength and hope on the toughest days.
Please consider donating to my GoFundMe campaign and sharing it with your networks. Together, we can turn this journey into a story of resilience, triumph, and healing.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity, love, and unwavering support.
With gratitude and hope,
Cassidy
