My sister Shawnee, who is a great mother to her son Nathan and thinks the world of him has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Medullary Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of invasive breast cancer. Shawnee is currently undergoing extensive scans, staging tests, and consultations with her oncology and surgical teams as they prepare her treatment plan.
Her care team has recommended a bilateral (double) mastectomy with reconstructive surgery, followed by additional therapy depending on her final pathology results. Shawnee will be unable to work during this entire process, and the financial strain from medical bills, treatment-related travel, and everyday living costs is already significant.
Treatment Timeline:
Shawnee is undergoing diagnostic testing and surgical planning, followed by a double mastectomy with reconstruction, postoperative recovery, any necessary chemotherapy or radiation, and long-term follow-up care.
This fundraiser has been created to help ease the financial burden so Shawnee can focus solely on her treatment and healing. Donations will go toward her medical and surgical expenses, travel for appointments, recovery needs, and essential living costs while she is unable to work.
Any support—whether a donation or simply sharing her fundraiser—means so much. Thank you for standing with Shawnee during this challenging time.
