Life Changer
December 8, 2014, I went to see my family doctor for stomach issues, possible stress from new position at work. She gave me an exam and said she wanted me to get a Cat Scan stat. So I went over to the radiologist and took the test she ordered. Then I left to go home. Before I could get in the front door, my phone was ringing. It was the doctors office, they got the results and they wanted me to come back to the office for the results. My husband wanted to come , but I told him that was silly. So off I go by myself, to here the news that would change my life forever.
The doctor was crying when she told me the results. Large mass in colon,as well as gallbladder and appendix covered in fluid and tumers on both sides of my liver. I started to cry, I said to her are you sure it's cancer she said yes. I was in such denial, I kept thinking it has to be someone else, not me. I was a young 52, ran a marathon and lots of races, vegetarian . Did not smoke or drink, never had any medical problems. Then boom, your told when they do surgery and remove a huge mass from your colon, that you have stage four colon cancer, with masses on liver.
I have since been to Mayo and had a section of my left liver removed. During that surgery, they decovered more cancer in my stomach lining. Said my only hope would be the Hypec surgery, but after speaking with another doctor he said I was terminal...
So chemo was opted for but it stopped working about 2 months ago. Now the doctors have say I have 6 months. Cancer, now in lungs and lymph nodes.
Now just praying for a miracle and hoping not to leave my husband in debt. He works sporadically in the film business, has been for 25 years. And when he does work it is always out of town. We have two wonderful dogs that will need to be re-homed, 4 cats,etc,etc. Whatever help we can get,we would be forever greatful,and would be a blessing. In the meantime, we are trying our darnedest to have fun..however we can. Thank You
