This is Brian, my brother. He is 35 years old. For the past few months, he has been experiencing intense chest pain, extreme exhaustion, and respiratory issues. Last Tuesday (February 2nd, 2021) he went to the ER and they pumped 2 liters of fluid from his lungs.
3 months ago he went to the ER for similar symptoms. The hospital released him without doing any further testing because he had no insurance and they told him to follow up with a clinic for self-pay patients.
Upon examination this time at the hospital, they found a tumor growing under his heart that is attached to his lungs. The doctors at the hospital he's at now got highly upset for the previous doctors who released him without doing more tests. The doctors at the hospital this time, have diagnosed him with lung cancer. They are helping him do everything they can to walk him through all the processes, treatments, testing, and medicating. Brian has no health insurance and he is having to go on chemotherapy immediately to fight this. He is also self-employed. He does a lot of physical labor and will not be able to work while he is on chemotherapy.
Brian is scared to lose his new home. He just got a new house with our mom and has not been there a year yet. His landlord was notified on 2/4/2021 of his condition and her immediate response was 'They couldn't help everyone who gets sick. They cannot make an exception. If he couldn't pay rent by 2/20/2021, they are required to start the eviction process'.
Brian is a good guy. He has done so much to get where he is at and works very hard to provide for his family. He started getting a lot of work but is unable to work due to being in the hospital and soon to be on chemo.
We are trying to raise at least 3 months of funds (to start out with) towards his bills to help while he has to be in the hospital and be on chemo. Despite his condition, Brian is hopeful to work while doing chemo but we know, realistically, this will not be possible for him.
Please help me join the fight with my brother in his time of need. We are doing all we can to help him but can only provide so much. Thank you.
