Help the Nelson's with Medical Expenses

Bo was in an accident on Friday, October 18, 2024, and is currently in the burn unit at Loyola University. He sustained multiple burns to his upper extremities with third degree burns to his right arm. It has been discussed with the medical team at Loyola that several skin graft surgeries will need to be performed. His first surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22, where the team of medical professionals and surgeons will have a better idea of future treatment plans. There is no timeline for Bo's discharge and the family does not know what the future holds at this current moment. Bo is looking at a long recovery and will not be able to work for the forseeable future. His wife Jessica and two kids Ava & Bodi have already had to make so many adjustments to their every day life and they are so grateful for the outpouring love and support as they navigate this challenging time. Currently the kids are not able to visit their dad in the hospital and that has been very tough on them. Jessica is not sure when she will be returning to work. She has been at the hospital every day since the accident to assist Bo in every day things he currently cannot do for himself.

With Bo not being able to work and Jessica caring for him while in the hospital and even after he gets discharged, they are going to be faced with a mountain of medical debt. This includes the ambulance ride, hospital stay and the unknown number of surgeries he is going to require along with home care and any other treatment recommended for recovery. That is unknown at this time.

Bo is the most selfless person we know and would do anything for his friends and family. Now it's time to lift this family up and let them navigate this difficult time without having to worry about the financial burden. Oh behalf of the Nelson family, they thank every single person who has reached out, said a prayer, offered to help with the kids and everything in between. The family is overwhelmed with their "new normal" and are still figuring out the best way to navigate their day to day lives. We do ask that you do not overwhelm the family with calls and texts asking for updates. As we have updates, we will post them here.
