Dear Friends,
In May, our fellow friend, wine industry veteran and animal whisperer, Katrina O’Quinn went in for a colonoscopy and while she felt fine, tests revealed stage III colorectal cancer.
She has been there for so many folks in good and tough times. Let's support this awesome mom, wife, colleague, volunteer and caregiver in her time of need...
The day of her cancer diagnosis, an Ancestry.com DNA match on Katrina’s biological father’s side of the family confirmed a history of colon, uternine and colorectal cancer going back several generations. This inherited disorder called Lynch Syndrome, dramatically increases the risk of colon, uterine, ovarian and stomach cancer to name a few.
Anyone who knows Katrina knows that she is a fighter (one of her all time favorite movies is Rocky) and she DOES NOT back down from a challenge! Katrina is going to begin a six week chemotherapy and radiation treatment to run concurrently, followed by a two-month rest period. Then Katrina will go in for the first of two surgeries. After both surgeries are completed, there will be another three to four months of chemotherapy. This is going to be a long fight!!
The cancer diagnosis comes a year and half after Katrina started her dream job of running her own pet-sitting business while still continuing to consult for artisan Napa wineries and volunteer in the community.
This GoFundMe campaign will aid in helping to support Katrina’s considerable medical expenses, lost wages, and unfortunately, given the Lynch Syndrome diagnosis, additional unpredictable medical expenses.
Katrina’s positive and optimistic attitude has served her well in the past and she is determined to keep that strong attitude going forward!
