The Big Fella Needs Some Help..
Donation protected
Our dad, Carl aka The Big Fella, had been living with vision impairment in both eyes for the last few years. After much convincing, he finally agreed to have eye surgery just before Christmas (16/12/2020) to restore some of his vision. The surgery was successful, dad’s vision had improved & he was only a few days away from returning to work.
On Australia Day weekend Carl had an accident, rupturing his eye that had just undergone surgery in December & sadly it could not be saved. Dad ended up having his right eye removed, leaving him legally blind.
He is unable to return to work. He can no longer drive a car. And our heart breaks thinking about him being unable to do the things he loves without requiring assistance. But he’s stronger than us & has already said at least he doesn’t need any help drinking a beer.
Our dad has been living in Australia for more than thirty years, but is not a citizen. Therefore, he misses out on funding from the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) who provide support & funding for things like home renovations, transport aid etc. Even if Carl were a citizen, applications can take up to a whole year to be processed.
Those of you who know Carl & Teena know that they open their home to anyone & everyone & are just being the most wonderful parents to the three of us girls. We are asking for your support for donations so Carl & Teena can pay medical bills without stress & make some adjustments around the house, such as removing steps, which will make it safer for The Big Fella to move around!
To all who can donate, share & have taken the time to read this, we can't thank-you enough for your support & what this means to restore a little normalcy into Carl's life. Thank-you from the bottom of our hearts.
AVERAGE COST OF FUNDS TO BE ALLOCATED:
- $5,000 towards the cost of surgery & medical bills
- $1,000 to have steps removed.
- $1,000 - $3,000 for ramp installation.
- $500 for a walk in shower.
