Blake was recently accepted to the Belize Valley Archaeological Reconnaissance Project. He will be living in San Ignacio, Belize, throughout the month of July where he will have the opportunity to experience field work at three major Mayan archaeological sites. This important work will both further Blake's experience as a new archaeologist and expand what the world knows about a culture that is thousands of years old.
This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Blake. As many of you know, his decision to step away from his former career and pursue his education full time has been a sacrafice for our family. Liam and I could not be more proud or excited about all of the many ways God has blessed each of Blake's endeavours along this new and often rocky road. Field work is the nitty-gritty, hands-on work of archaeology. Having experience with it is not only a degree requirement but also opens many doors for internships and future employment.
Thecost to attend the project is $2,100. That includes tuition, his room, and meals every weekday. We are estimating that it will cost an additional $1,400 for his flight and incidentals.
So, if sometime between today and July 5th you find yourself with an extra $10 or $20, would you consider throwing a little bit of it Blake's way? Here are a few things you might get in return:
$1: a gigantic hug around the neck from Liam
$5: a great big high five from Cassie
$10: a postcard from Blake once he's in Belize
$20: lunch at Casa de Bendel on the date of your choosing
$50: Blake will wash your car at the location of your choice and send you a postcard
$100 or more: Postcard, clean car, high fives, hugs, and one of Blake's cheesecakes
