Support Dave's Fight Against Cancer

We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt request to support a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, David Davidson, who is currently battling cancer of the lungs and brain. If you know Dave, then you already know him for the kind and generous person he is; always putting others before himself. Even getting him to agree to this campaign was a struggle, as he was thinking of other people first, not wanting to be a burden or cause an inconvenience.
A little bit about Dave that you may not know already;
- He has a passion for photography. When the opportunity strikes, you can catch him out with his daughters taking pictures of scenery, festivals, and nature.
- He loves building computers. He taught me how to build my first computer from scratch in 2019, and we've built many others together since then. I can put one together in just under two hours now because of him.
- He is an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. Even through a rough season like the Jays just had, David watched almost every game, and enjoyed talking about the new, young talent and prospects of exciting seasons to come.
- Dave had to persevere before. Many years ago he broke his back while at work, and he was confined to a wheelchair until he recovered enough to walk again. The lingering pain and side effects this injury caused, forced him to stop participating in one of his greatest passions; golf. Over the past two years, he has been able to get back into playing it with his daughter and family, bringing back a joy that was once taken from him.
- He is an animal lover, and dogs seem to know this about him. If you put Dave in a room with literally any dog, and that dog will make Dave their best friend within minutes. His dog Dexter can account for this!
- We won't hold this against him, but he has faithfully tuned in to every season and episode of Survivor since season 2. I could think of better ways to spend a Wednesday night, but nobody's perfect.
Dave has a sharp wit and unwavering positivity that touches everyone who knows him. He is a dedicated family man that takes immense pride in his two children and seven grandchildren, who light up his world. Despite his courage and determination, Dave faces a difficult journey that will include daily radiation and chemotherapy treatments. These treatments will have a significant physical and mental impact on Dave, which will cause him to step away from his full time job indefinitely. Due to his age, he is ineligible for long-term disability benefits, which will put Dave in an even more difficult position during this challenging time.
We aim to raise $11,000 to help ease the financial burden and ensure Dave can focus on what truly matters: his health and his family. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to providing the care and support he needs.
