On Wednesday my pup Skylar had to undergo emergency pyometra surgery. Her uterus was so infected and leaking into her abdomen, and it has made her very ill. She was within hours of losing her life. We were hoping the surgery would have fixed her up and she’d be on the mend. Overnight she didn’t do well and she is now back with the vet, alone, undergoing tests and more fluids to prevent dehydration. She’s very weak and not doing well, but still lucky to be alive. This is very unfortunate timing in my family to be incurring a large vet bill, but we’re trying to do all we can to save her. Our vet takes a very realistic approach and should it come to a point where it doesn’t make sense to continue these measures we will make that decision with a heavy heart. At this time he is still hopeful and not “hitting the panic button” as he said, so we are still hoping for the best. I understand that most are probably struggling with the current economy but I am asking for any thing that might help save our Sky. Currently the bill is about to break the $2000 mark between the before care, emergency surgery, after care, and now another stay. Sky is a key part of my family and without her here right now our other dogs and family just quite aren’t the same. Any funds raised will go directly towards our bill at Mashpee Veterinary Hospital.
