Urgent Appeal: Let’s Bring Life to Five Shattered Dreams

My name is Ahmad Wuhidi and I’m a filmmaker from Gaza. Ten

months ago, I fled Gaza to obtain urgent surgeries and medical care in

Egypt.

For more than 20 years before the recent war, my parents were on the

frontlines of alleviating the adversities facing people in Gaza. They

distributed financial aid for those in need and bought clothes and

necessities for children and orphans. However, our world flipped upside down

on October 7, 2023. Now, it is my family that needs financial support, and

I’m asking for your help.

On October 9th, an airstrike bombed my neighborhood, and our home

was destroyed. My beloved mom and sister were killed in the attack and my

five other siblings and I sustained injuries, some serious, like my own. My

family was displaced, living on the run to evade attacks in makeshift tents

for almost 16 months without adequate food and essentials for a healthy

life.

With a fragile ceasefire in place, my father’s goal is to send my siblings

to Egypt to live in safety and continue their educations and to rebuild our

home and futures. My goal is to help make that happen.

Before the war, my mother and father, both professionals, made an excellent

living for our family. Now, my family is in financial crisis. My parents

lost their incomes and our savings were completely depleted because of the

high costs of healthcare to preserve our lives. My family is still trapped

in the south of Gaza and have nowhere to go. We have lost everything!

I’m seeking your help to raise $18,000 to pay my father’s rent in Gaza, my

5 sibling’s rent in Egypt, and all of their living expenses. I would

appreciate any donation that you can make. They will make a big difference.
