Update 11/3/24
Hello,
We wanted to thank all of our friends in the community who have supported us through this difficult time in our lives. I wanted to share our story and update you on how Scott is doing now.
This summer our family took a 2 week trip to Ireland. We traveled the country from Cork to Ennis, spending time with extended family, having a celebration of life for my uncle, going on hikes, boating, golfing, and soaking in the culture. On August 3rd, we were making the journey from Bantry Bay to Ennis because we were flying home the next day. We stopped off in the town of Killarney to get something to eat and take a break from the long trip. Scott started feeling unwell, he was getting sick and had a burning feeling in his chest. We happened to park near a pharmacy, so we decided to get some antacid tablets. While we were there, we shared with the workers how Scott was feeling. The pharmacists said that we should call for medical help. Then, Scott collapsed and went into cardiac arrest in the pharmacy. Immediately, the workers pressed an emergency button that alerted other businesses in the area to bring a defibrillator and come to help. A doctor who happened to be passing by, when he saw what was happening, banged on the window to let him in so he could help. They let him in and he did compressions while the pharmacists used the defibrillator many times. When the paramedics arrived they determined that Scott had 100% blockage in his left anterior descending artery. He was then airlifted to Cork City Hospital where he had emergency surgery. Scott stayed in the hospital for about a week recovering. The doctor recommended that Scott not fly for 2 weeks so we stayed in Ireland for 2 more weeks, returning home on August 22nd.
Now, Scott continues to get stronger through his recovery each day. He goes to regular doctor appointments and does Cardiac -rehab twice a week.
The love and support we have received from the Andover community has been incredible. Your generous donations have helped with so many costs that go with an unexpected medical event, such as our extended stay in Ireland, medical bills, additional flight costs and so much more. Through all of this, we have been embracing gratitude. Although this was a scary, horrible event that happened, so many amazing things fell into place on August 3rd that made Scott survive this traumatic experience. We are also so grateful for all the love and thoughtful ways the Andover community supported Scott and our family in such a difficult time of our lives.

With love,
The Price Family

Update:
The Price family is home and recovering. Scott has begun his rehabilitation and Beth Ann has returned to the classroom. They are incredibly grateful for your support and generosity.

The Price family endured a medical emergency while on vacation in Europe, which forced them to extend their stay. Their family has been displaced and has incurred mounting travel expenses while taking the time needed to recover before they are allowed to return home.

Scott and Beth Ann Price are vital members of the Andover community. Scott is a teacher at West Elementary School; Beth Ann is a teacher at Sanborn Elementary and the summer drama camp directory. Scott and Beth Ann are also residents of Andover.

Any donations will allow them to focus on their recovery, not their financial burden.
