During the early morning hours of Saturday, August 2nd, our home flooded. We have had to evacuate due to having to turn the water off and mold exposure making us sick. We are in the trenches of fighting with insurance to get anything covered and still do not know exactly where the leak came from. We have been quoted upwards of $20K just for demo and mold remediation, not including fixing the leak and rebuilding our home to a livable condition. Even if repairs started today, we are looking at 2+ months out of our home at minimum.

We are currently staying in an Airbnb 2.5 hours away from our family and our home, paying $2300 a month out of pocket. To get housing closer to our family and our home, we need about $5000 a month just to rent a furnished home in the Jackson metro. Until then, our belongings that were not directly damaged from the flooding itself will be exposed to mold and we will continue to lose the little bit we have left.

All proceeds will be used first to cover day-to-day expenses, as we have missed a week of work, and ultimately to obtain housing closer to our family. We also need assistance affording a storage unit for what we can salvage. We have received NO assistance whatsoever from our insurance company and may accrue legal expenses throughout this process as well.
