How likely are you to get an STD? What happens if you get one? It’s easy to find stern warnings, but sometimes it’s hard to get the facts. Help fund an evidence-based, sex-positive report on STD transmission risk and related health facts.
This question has been posed anonymously by a member of the Bay Area Rationalist community and Sarah Constantin, former head of research at Metamed, was asked to investigate. Metamed was responsible for fixing Eliezer Yudkowsky's sleep disorder (scroll to the bottom), and has been discussed on NPR. Some of Sarah's public medical writing is available, with more available on her blog . Reports like this from Metamed would cost over ten thousand dollars, but without company overhead Sarah can do this for much less.
This report will be made available to backers and anyone they want to share it with. It will include the transmission rates of the most common and worrisome STDs, the best treatment options, how your life will be impacted by contracting one, and any other information you might need, written out in clear language with charts.
