Study Abroad in Cork, Ireland

Hey! My name is Elizabeth, and I am a student at Francis Marion University. I am studying Psychology, with a minor in Speech-Language Pathology and Spanish. And, I love what I study. I spend hours every day throwing myself into my studies. On an accelerated course, I am taking 19 credit hours and spending most days memorizing Anatomy terms and writing papers. I love what I do, and cannot wait to achieve my dream of being an SLP. However, set to graduate at 20 years old, I had a revelation. I realized that I had been rushing through college. I could not live my dream life and have my dream career if I had not explored the world and learned to appreciate every adventure.

Therefore, I applied to study abroad. After all, experience with other cultures is also a vital part of education. I could not let my college life pass by without experiencing this stage of life for all it was worth, with travel, exposure to art, and meeting all the people possible. I am simply overflowing with energy and joy about the opportunity to study abroad. When I got accepted into the program, I sprinted around my apartment squealing with happiness.

I leave for Cork, Ireland in January. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me, and I could not let it pass me by. However, I am 20 years old and paying for my college tuition and housing on my own. Cork, Ireland is extremely expensive. My scholarships cover tuition entirely. However, I will be trying to cover housing and extra expenses out of pocket. Being a broke college student, this seems daunting and maybe impossible. Any help would be appreciated more than my words could capture. It would be able to help me afford my housing and buy groceries. By relieving this financial stress, I would be able to enjoy the experience for all that it is worth.
