(Franklin, GA) — A local teenager is fighting for her life this morning at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus after a vicious Monday car crash just outside the city limits of Franklin.
17-year-old Lilly Scott, a senior at Heard County High School, was taken to West Georgia Medical Center in Lagrange by ambulance before being transported by Life Flight to Columbus.
As reported by the GSP, the crash involved two vehicles and occurred Monday morning when Scott pulled into the path of an oncoming vehicle at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 and Pea Ridge Road, about one mile south of the high school.
According to her mother, Lilly is on life support and in extremely critical condition after undergoing intensive surgery Monday afternoon for severe head trauma.
“Lilly is fighting for her life and needs lots of prayers right now,” said Christine Scott early Tuesday morning. “We appreciate everyone’s support and we just ask that everyone continues to pray.”
The talented student is recognized by most for her leadership role on Friday nights as Drum Major in the Marching Braves band. She is also a top 10 student in her class academically.
Around 150 people were on hand for an emergency prayer vigil for Lilly in the school parking lot Monday evening. The event was held by Prospect Church Pastor Brandon Brooks and organized in just a few hours.
Students and faculty at HHS had a difficult time focusing at school Monday as word of the accident spread.
“We, as a Heard High School family, were devastated to hear of Lilly’s accident today,” stated Principal Rodney Kay. “She is a leader in our school and has touched so many people over her four years here. We will continue to rally around her and her family with our love, prayers, and support.”

Lilly was also receiving scores of support and prayers via social media Monday afternoon, not just from local students and friends, but from other schools and marching bands across the West Georgia area.
The Bremen and Heard County softball teams prayed together for Lilly after Monday night’s championship game in Bremen.
“Lilly Scott is one of the best people I have ever known — not only is she a wonderful best friend — she is an amazing student and all around good person,” said Natalie Moncus Monday. “She is a fighter and she has never taken no as an answer. She puts her whole self in any and everything she does.”
