Hi all! For those who don’t know me, I’m Z (they/them) and I’m getting top surgery this spring! This has been something I’ve wanted/needed for almost 7 years and I’ve been in the process of getting this surgery for over a year. As with most hard things in life, I need some help. I’ve made this gofundme to raise money to help cover some of the costs that come along with this procedure, which I will be breaking down for you all. My surgery date is May 28th, and the payment must be made two weeks prior to surgery, so that’s our current timeline! I have already had to cancel surgery once due to financial constraints so I want to pull out all the stops to make sure that is not the case this time.
So, where is this money going? Excellent question! Most of this money is going towards covering the procedure itself. I am very lucky to have insurance covering a lot of the costs, but my deductible will not be met by my surgery date. Most of the money raised will go to bridging the gap of my deductible. There are also elements of this surgery that insurance will not cover, such as mandatory numbing agents used by my surgeon and post-op healing garments. Some of the money raised will go towards those non-insured elements of my surgery. The rest of the money will be used for groceries/rent/utility assistance during my recovery. I am an actor and a dog walker, and those are my two forms of income. I will not be able to do either of these jobs for at least a month while I fully recover, so having a safety net for those expenses is ideal.
I know for many of us right now that money is tight. It’s tax season and so many of us are overworked and underpaid. Truly any amount you can spare is more than enough. Even just $1 makes a difference. And I completely understand if you don’t have any money to spare. If you can’t donate, I ask that you share this with friends, family, or followers. The more people share, the more that small donations will make a big difference. Thank you in advance for donating, sharing, or even just reading this far! I appreciate you all and am very very grateful. Love ya!
