April Dottin-Carter Australia Expedition
Donation protected
My daughter, April Dottin-Carter, has always been a stellar student. One filled with drive and the determination to never give up on a goal. Never growing up with a father was difficult, but she was determined to not allow it to stand in her way. Throughout her life she has faced many adversities. She has always find a way to excel despite the battles she's faced with racism, homelessness and poverty. Against all odds, she never once let anything stand in the way of her getting the most out of her education.
She's held a 4.00 GPA avg throughout her entire academic career at Cambridge Rindge & Latin School and as of JANUARY 18, 2019, she will have completed all of her high school requirements. She hasn't just excelled in school, she has excelled in life. Through all the tough battles she’s faced with, she somehow always finds a way to be victorious, surpass obstacles and use her struggles as motivation to help those around her excel as well.
She plans to use the time off from school, that she has worked so hard for, to educate herself outside the classroom. Her plans are to travel to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji during a phenomenal three month expedition with the Carpe Diem Education program. With your help we can make this dream a reality for her.
In the fall of 2019 April will study Computer Science in college in hopes to one day help preserve our planet for future generations to come. When you ask April what she wants to be when she gets older, her response is always "They haven't invented my job yet." She wishes to discover ways to use technology with her degree in C.S. to help global warming, preserve wildlife and our Earth's most valuable natural resources. To do this it is deeply important to her that she receives an experiential education.
Her goals are to deepen her understanding of herself and the world around us, experience an education in a different part of the world and connect to the Earth and it's natural resources. During her travels, she will be working with key players in the world of environmental conservation and animal rehabilitation in the largest area of the tropical rainforest on the Australian continent and so much more!
This type of hands on education will support that cause in numerous ways. She will also go to live in a traditional MaORi marae (community house), discover ancestral stories & indigenous ways of living, and engage in local environmental and sustainability efforts. Here she will deepen her connection to the Buddhist community as she meditates in the temples in hopes that it can help deepen her faith in herself and the Buddhist values that she lives by.
The cost of the entire travel program is upwards of $20,000 and is DUE IMMEDIATELY! This is why we need your help! I simply cannot afford to cover the cost of her tuition plus travel alone. Over the last few months, I have done my best to raise the funds on my own, but I haven't been able to.
I'm now calling on any one and every one in our support circle and whomever else can help. It is my hope, that all who can give will and all who sees this will also spread the word. PLEASE if you are able to give a donation, help me support my daughter's dream. She has worked extremely hard throughout her life and my one dream is to see that she continues to go far in her goals. I couldn't be more proud of all she has accomplished despite all obstacles. I love my daughter April so much and do NOT want to let her down!
The Carpe Diem Education program has done all they can to extend the timeliness of full payment as far out as they can. It is my hope that with your combined donations, we may actually be able to see April off to the South Pacific. If there is anything that you can donate at all, we would be appreciative. We could use all the help we can get.
Thank You so much For your support and attention to this cause!!For more information on the Carpe Diem Education programming please visit the website https://www.carpediemeducation.org/ or visit them on Facebook at their Carpe Diem Education page.
