My name is Amy Rutherford. I am a mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. I am a long time resident of Spring Valley and a St. Margaret’s employee for over 19 years. Until recently, I was active in my community, social, and family life.

In June of this year I started with stomach issues and a pancreatic mass was noted during an ER visit. Following a biopsy, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I underwent a major surgery in August called a Whipple procedure. It was a grueling 8.5 hour procedure and recovery has been anything but easy. I continue to struggle with eating most days and have had significant weight loss.

In addition, I started chemotherapy on 9/28/22 which will require 2 visits per week for 6 months.

This road has been physically, mentally, and financially exhausting. I remain

positive with the help of my medical team but feel it is time to request help from my community. I have been unable to work since June of 2022 which has taken a toll on my financial situation.
