Hi. Ive never done anything like this before and not sure where to start! Basically my sweet, funny, 4 year old tiny Maltese Tilly needs surgery asap. Her back legs started going wobbly recently and shes falling over alot. I took her for an MRI/CT Scan/Xray and she has a rare spinal deformity called Atlanto Axial Sub Luxation. Its quite a complex condition. Her 2 vertebrae at beginning of spine are not joined. Her spine is also pressing on her windpipe and will soon cause her huge trouble breathing. Im absolutely devastated and trying to come to terms with it all! Without surgery all four legs will go lame very soon and breathing restricted. She's in no pain though at the moment thankfully. Within months she wont walk again and will die very young due to breathing problem. She's so young and i couldnt live with myself if i didnt try anything to save her. SO....the good news is....there is an operation that can be done with an 80% success rate. Ive nothing to lose by putting this dear little girl thru a huge complex operation...cos without it she will most certainly die. I cant let that happen. She deserves a chance. NOW THE BAD NEWS....!!...Ive found a fantastic neurology surgeon who has performed this operation many times successfully....He operates from The Willows Vetinary Clinic miles away in Solihull. Surgery for Tilly costs £8,000 though....i simply havent got it. Thats why ive decided to swallow my pride and start asking. Tilly's insurance is up to £7,000 a year. Ive used £3,500 already on scans etc. They are willing to pay the rest of her £3,500 towards this operation which im so thankful for! So that leaves me a rough estimated bill for £4,500 if all goes well during and after surgery. I never ever thought id be in a situation like this and i truly feel embarrased its come to this....and im asking for peoples help. Ive donated many times and never in a million years would i have thought id end up being the person now asking!! But i truly do need help. I dont know which way to turn. I dont want this beautiful kind gentle little monster to suffer. She desperately needs help. Thank u for reading this. Sorry if its a bit long winded. Its so hard to put into words.
