Kay Fender -- "Nana" to some, Mom or Sister to others, Friend to all -- took her final breath surrounded by family early on the morning of March 14th. Her passing comes after a long and difficult battle following unrelated complications from her 10th knee surgery... the one that finally succeeded in fixing her mobility and giving her a shot at the life we all wanted her to have.
If you knew Kay, you knew how much she adored and cared for every single person in her life (especially us grandkids). No matter the distance or amount of time passed, her love was constantly known and felt. The void of her absence seems impossible to comprehend; but we press on in celebrating her life.
While the story of her life is steeped in love and family, Kay also fought various hardships. Her battle to survive a similar medical emergency (ARDS) in 2009 left a financial burden that extended through the remainder of her life. As her children, Jeff and Pamela work to carry out her final wishes, the measure of these hardships is extremely present.
For these reasons, we're inviting anyone who loved or felt loved by Kay to take part in laying her to rest in the way that she wanted.
Her family is immeasurably grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this time. A portion of these donations will go to support others whose lives have been irrevocably changed by ARDS.
We love you forever, Nana. <3
