Our family never imagined we would be in a position where we needed to ask for help, but after months of medical complications, cancer treatments, and financial hardship, we are struggling to keep our heads above water.

In October, I underwent knee replacement surgery that quickly turned into a long and difficult recovery filled with complications. Between severe swelling, infections, multiple hospital stays, and loss of mobility, what was supposed to be a 6–8 week recovery became nearly 6 months, where I could barely walk, could not safely be left alone, and was unable to get up and down stairs, get in and out of bed, or even ride in a car without assistance. My husband had to take significant time away from work to care for me and get me to appointments while I focused on physical therapy and trying to regain movement in my leg.

Then in March, during my annual follow-up, we received devastating news; my breast cancer had returned for the third time.

I am currently undergoing treatment while waiting to find out my multiple surgery dates with my oncology surgeons that will possibly be, one in July and another in August. Between ongoing medical appointments, treatments, recovery, and time away from work, our financial situation has become overwhelming and at this point, we have fallen severely behind on our mortgage and other bills and are currently in a foreclosure avoidance program while trying desperately to save our home. We are also facing collections and court proceedings from creditors.

As difficult and humbling as this is, we are asking for help so we can focus on my health and keep our family stable during this chapter of our lives. Donations will go toward:

• Mortgage payments

• Medical and treatment-related expenses

• Gas and transportation costs

• Utilities, groceries, and other household bills

• Daily living expenses while my husband misses work to care for me
