Help Bring Andrew Home: Urgent Donations Needed for Final Wish

My son Andrew, a 31-year-old nurse from Houston, is battling chemo-resistant testicular cancer with only weeks to live. His final wish is to spend his remaining days at home in Houston with family and friends, without our family facing financial ruin from his medical care.

Andrew’s Story
Born and raised in Houston, Andrew moved to Austin to pursue music before finding his calling in healthcare during COVID. Inspired by his brother Alex, an ER nurse, Andrew earned his nursing degree and cared for his grandfather after a stroke. When he moved to Louisiana temporarily, he chose Louisiana Medicaid to save money for his planned return to Houston.

The Diagnosis That Changed Everything
In late 2024, Andrew was diagnosed with chemo-resistant testicular choriocarcinoma. Louisiana Medicaid refused to cover treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, trapping him in a devastating catch-22. Despite months of aggressive chemotherapy at LSU-Shreveport, the cancer didn’t respond. When we finally got him to MD Anderson, paying out of pocket, precious time had been lost.

The System Failed Him
For 5 weeks, Texas Medicaid kept giving us different answers on how to obtain coverage—precious time we could have used to find another way to finance his treatment at MD Anderson. Multiple appeals failed while Andrew’s cancer spread.

A Mother’s Final Request
This week, MD Anderson told us there’s no path forward. Andrew has weeks before becoming bedridden, and he wants to spend his final days in Houston where he belongs.

We’re facing overwhelming medical bills from months of out-of-pocket treatments. Andrew’s greatest concern isn’t his comfort—it’s that our family not be financially destroyed by his medical care. Even now, he’s thinking of others. Each chemo treatment at MD Anderson was out of pocket at $5800. and lab work $1900.

We Need Your Help To:
• Cover accumulated medical bills
• Ensure Andrew can spend his final days in comfort in Houston
• Allow our family to focus on being together instead of worrying about financial devastation

Honor Andrew’s wish that his illness not burden those he loves
Andrew spent his life caring for others—as a grandson, a nurse, and a son who faced cancer with incredible courage. His final wish is that we remember love and time together, not financial stress.
Every donation helps ensure Andrew’s peaceful farewell at home, surrounded by everyone who loves him in the city where he belongs.
Please help us give this beautiful young man the loving goodbye he deserves.
