Meet Bella, your friendly neighborhood Ace Hardware cat. On 12/31/21 She was struck by a car in the store's parking lot. The store manager found her right before leaving. It was a good thing he did as she was severely injured. After being rushed to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic, she was instantly sedated due to tremendous amounts of pain. As far as we know, she WILL make it; at the cost of losing a limb.
She was not alone however, 5 Ace employees rushed to the animal hospital with her. We were given two options; go through with the surgery at a hefty cost, or put her down. Bella is extremely cared for, thus we all knew the answer immediately. Although no one had the immediate currency to put forward, we were able to pool together half of the cost. This is where you come in! Bella is cared for dearly, thus we are doing anything we can to keep her afloat.
The current goal we have set is just the surgery cost. This does not include medicine, kitty sleepovers at the vet, special care upon recovery, etc. If our current goal is met/exceeds, the remainder will be used on the above listed as well as care for other cats that inhabit the Ace Hardware lumber yard. (We care for and feed around 30 cats out of pocket on a monthly basis)
We appreciate any help and donations that come our way! Several Ace Hardware employees have also contributed to her recovery - some have even given up their vacation time that they receive on the 1st of the New Year to help pay for our Baby Bella.
Bella will not return to Ace Hardware after her recovery. The vet has recommended she become an inside Kitty. We agree with this request. While we currently have a few homes considering, nothing is set in stone. We will miss her, but ultimately, her well-being is what matters most! Bella is set to undergo her amputation surgery on January 2nd or 3rd 2022 - We'll give updates as we receive them!
