Thinking about making a difference can be difficult. What I know in this life is that I like to help others, in various ways, shapes and forms. This is why my love for hospitality and service exists. My passion is creating positively memorable experiences for people and to in-still a smile on someones face when that might be the only thing you can actually give them. I really, truly want to even out the playing fields of our society and I believe that must be done slowly and in stages. Making movements in good directions is key. There needs to be a voice for those whose lack of income does not allow them to be heard. If we do want to consider ourselves an exemplary community, we have to consider every single person inside of it. This includes our homeless. I bet there are at least 3 homeless people in Victoria who come from the town YOU are from. For me, this is about bridging the gap, just a little more. I am going to do this by being a CRAZY PERSON and swimming, biking and running an insane amount of kilometers (226.3km) as fast as I can, against a bunch of mega-fit people, in the mountains of Western Canada, at a really hot time of the year. I am making a statement people, I am trying to be this voice! 15% of every donation that comes in will be distributed between OurPlace and Headway Organization. Please read further to find out how it is you are contributing in a significant way to our community by joining me on this endeavor.
My IronWoman journey began 6 years ago while I was volunteering in Jocotenango, Guatemala at a dog and cat shelter. After be-friending some 'Ironman-ambitious' locals, I was soon thrown in to an Olympic Ironman competition in Tikal, Guatemala titled, "Hombre Maya". Without properly training, I managed to win first in my age group, nationality and gender. Doing so well with my lack of experience is exactly what sparked my drive to work towards one day competing in a full-length IronMan Competition. I didn't know when that was going to be, but I knew it would feel right when I was meant to do it. In between then and now I have participated in various single and multi-sport competitions, the most recent being the 2018 Victoria Subaru 70.3 IronMan. This race is what truly raised my seriousness and desire to show-up and compete in the following races in 2019: 1.) VICTORIA SUBARU 70.3- JUNE 2ND, 2019 1/2 IronMan Competition (1.9km swim, 90km bike, 21.1km run) 2.) IRONMAN CANADA WHISTLER- JULY 28TH, 2019 Full Ironman in Whistler, B.C (3.9km swim, 180km bike, 42.2km run). Today, I am determined to raise $25,000 for myself, the community for 2 significant reasons: REASON 1.) To donate to and raise awareness to the following societies: "Our Place"- Victoria's inner-city mission to provide a sense of belonging to vulnerable people "Headway"- Victoria's Epilepsy and Parkinson's Centre. I would also like to donate $1,000 of the proceeds raised to The Hermitage on Denman Island, B.C. Meditation has been a major tool in my focus in training as well as my patience in life. It would be an honour to also contribute to this devotional sanctuary. REASON 2.) On September 27th, 2018, I was struck by a car on my bike while riding along the Galloping Goose Trail. It has been a mental battle as much as a physical one in keeping my Ironman goals on target with unexpected, frustrating obstacles. Partial proceeds of these funds will contribute to subsidizing the cost of my rehabilitation, training, registration as well as equipment needed to perform well above average.
Please see the following information for personal cost break-down: Please note that everything has been converted in to Canadian dollars and that I have considered taxes and/or shipping on registration ONLY.

Your donation will contribute to two things: the personal achievement (for a born and raised 'Island-girl') of a long-thought goal of strength, triumph and endurance so I may qualify in Ironman Canada and be invited to participate in the IronMan World Championship; and selflessly footing three non-profit organizations. I am here to prove that our minds are the fundamental drivers of strength in our existent, and that our minds truly are just as important to exercise as our bodies. I require the financial support of my peers and community to achieve the greatness that I am born to reach. To prove my seriousness and dedication to training for such a competition, I have began working with Bruce Regensburg of Pinnacle Fitness, 20X IronMan competitor having recently received the best swim time in his age group for IronMan Austria this past Summer. With this experts aid, I am confident I will reach the goals I have laid out to accomplish. Thank-you, a thousand times thank-you for your consideration and/ or donation. I promise to make my community proud and to strengthen the bonds of relationship in our city and beyond.
