Help the Grays rebuild their home
On Monday, June 5 we got a call from our neighbor down the road that our house was on fire. My wife and I were staying in our RV, because we were remodeling our 1921 farmhouse in Winnebago, IL. We came outside and the entire home was engulfed in flames. 5 fire departments were on the scene, extinguishing the fire-- but the home was a complete loss.
My wife and I spent the last 27 years in this house. We raised 2 children, created memories and nurtured a home-grown automotive business right on our property. I never would have imagined losing everything we've spent a lifetime building in an hour.
It's been more than two weeks since our house burned down, and my wife and I are staying in our RV. We are playing the waiting game with the insurance company -- trying to figure out when we will be given the money and resources to make our next move. If you feel inclined, we would appreciate any donations you're willing to give. We understand we'll never get back what we once had. We want to move forward and rebuild -- our home, our lives and our sentiments. Every day we look outside at the rubble on our lawn and we're reminded of this nightmare.
With gratitude,
David and Karen Gray
