Hi my name is Amanda. I am the owner of Phoenix Training Centre that is situated in Maddingley.
On Sunday the 19th of October 2025, Ruby a young woman who trains with us at Phoenix was at a car show at Maddingley Park in Bacchus Marsh.
Whilst ordering food she was struck by a reversing vehicle and knocked over. The same vehicle then drove over her foot.
As result of the incident, she has over 17 broken bones in her foot and will require a number of major surgeries. She will also be in a wheelchair for up to 12 months.
The surgeon has advised that her life will never be the same and that she will have a life lasting disability that will effect her physical abilities, sporting options and even her employment options.
Currently she is unable to work and the intent of this fundraiser is to help her financially whilst she is undergoing surgery and unable to work.
On the 7th of December we will be running a fundraising event for her. This will include the following;
10am Wrestling Class run by Australian Olympic wrestling team member Ben Wiggington
11am kids Jiu Jitsu class run by Jonathan Ramos (World Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Champion)
12pm Women’s Self Defence with Coach Amanda Saliba (multiple National and state Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Champion)
12pm Knife Defence with Coach Wayne Ardley (Aust Brazilian Jiu Jitsu National Champ and State Champion)
The cost for each class (seminar) will be $10.
There will also be baked goods,
Sausages in bread, and
Hamburgers for sale
Hair Braiding.
All monies raised go directly to Ruby.
Please feel welcome to donate even if you can’t make it on the day.
