Jean had her first Crohn’s related surgery by age 16 and has since lived battling and managing Crohn’s disease. As if that wasn’t enough a recent emergency room visit unearthed the presence of a large mass. The biopsy results were inconclusive due to the size and location so we are still holding out hope but it has been the doctors professional opinion that we prepare for all possible outcomes. Unfortunately Jean has taken this on without the assistance of medical insurance to help leverage the unthinkable cost of all that is required. She is yet another victim of such a flawed health care system. She has been exhausting all options and we are hopeful that she will have a policy as of September 1st but this will not have any affect on the large totals already amassed. In addition if the surgeon suggests immediate removal she  will have to make the choice to either take on the estimated $125,000 surgery cost herself to treat as recommended, or take the risk of further complications by postponing till the benefits kick in. It is such a tragedy that anyone should face such an ultimatum, especially someone as amazing and selfless as Jean.

I ask that all of you please extend your support and well wishes to Jean. Her courage and positivity have been such a source of strength for all those around her and she deserves nothing less in return. Over the next few weeks the Gloss team will be hosting several events such as a wine tasting hosted by Grapes the Wine Company  and catered by The Whitlock, Cut for a Cause, Yoga Day plus amazing raffles. Anyone can participate in the raffles and details can be found on the website. I have created this GoFundMe page to kick start the process and all details will be updated daily on our website. In addition if anyone has any other ideas or items they would like to contribute or just a well wish or words of encouragement we are all ears!
