Kidney disease medical bills

Hello, my name is Remy and I am a 34 year old immunocompromised human. I have a rare kidney disease called Minimal Change Disease or MCD. I was first diagnosed at age 14. I was very sick for about a year and then I went into remission thanks to intravenous steroids. I was in remission for 20 years!

But now I am very sick again. I’ve been sick for over 8 months and none of the treatments have been working. Some of them I couldn’t tolerate because of how bad the side effects were. I’ve been having to get blood and urine tests every week for 8 months. I have insurance but it doesn’t cover everything so it’s basically a co-pay every week($50+). Also I take 49 pills a day(at 4 different times.) It’s over $200 a month for my pills. Also one of the side effects of the medicines I take is weight gain, specifically in the belly, ankles, face, and neck. So I have had to purchase a lot more clothes because none of my shirts or pants fit after gaining 30lbs. Also because of my belly extending I got an umbilical hernia, and had to have surgery which ended up being over $2,000 because I hadn’t met my deductible. And now I have another umbilical hernia but can’t afford surgery. So my medical debt keeps getting bigger and bigger. And the next treatment we are trying is new and experimental so it’s very expensive. I also have 6 doctors and about 1 doctor appt a week and have to page a copay every time.
