Sobi's Surgery

Sobeida was diagnosed with an Arterial-Venous Malformation in January 2014, after suffering a mild vascular accident (seizure), while at home with her children. The resulting MRI's showed a cavernoma, or blood balloon in the left temporal lobe (middle) of her brain approx. 3cm in diameter.
After six months of studies, and discussion, she underwent a non-invasive radiology therapy called "Gamma-Knife". Her insurance wouldn't cover any of it, claiming she had been born with this condition, and it was"pre-exsisting". Sobeida had made what we were all hoping was a full recovery and avoid a more invasive surgery.
However, the hopes that this radiology procedure would avoid brain surgery were dashed this year, when Sobi began experiencing debilitating headaches and seizures. After 3 more MRI's and a scary night in the ICU, it has become apparent that her body did not respond correctly to the procedure, and a mass of dead cells (9cm in diameter), or "radio-necrosis" has formed and is growing, much like a tumor. Because of the sheer size of the mass it is imperative to remove immediately, as to alleviate the pressure and inflammation in her head. This is an effort to recover her quality of life, because she simply has no other choice. After a year of exhausting research and endless expenditures, a craneotomy (brain surgery) is necessary.
Once again the medical insurance will not cover any of it, and her family is now faced with the task of creating a situation so that Sobeida can recover her health, happiness and well being. Although there are no guarantees in this world, her family remains confident in her full recovery, and a long, happy life together.
Sobeida is very humble and proud, as is her family. She is asking for help from the community, albeit reluctantly, to help her in this time of need, and share in what we believe can be a miraculous recovery.
