Hello,
My name is Gemma Flannigan, and I’m reaching out to you during one of the most challenging times of my life. I recently turned 44, and on October 21st 2025, I received the devastating diagnosis of stage 3 ovarian tubular cancer. After months of struggling with misdiagnoses, unbearable pain and discomfort, the news felt like a heavy weight on my shoulders.
Over the past six months, I have undergone five rounds of chemotherapy and recently had surgery on March 31st, hoping to remove as much of the cancer as possible. However, I woke up to hear that the operation was too risky to proceed with the amount of cancer spread, and my heart sank. The uncertainty and fear have been overwhelming.
Today, I received a glimmer of hope from a specialist surgeon in London who is willing to take on my case. She has a dedicated team and specializes in ovarian tubular cancer. She believes that with further chemotherapy and a thorough scan, she may be able to perform the surgery that could significantly extend my life expectancy and improve my quality of life.
However, this operation comes at a cost, and I need to raise £30,000 to cover the expenses. I never thought I would find myself in this position, and it’s incredibly out of my comfort zone to ask for financial help. Anyone who knows me will understand how difficult this is for me. But I have so much life left to live, so many people to care for, and I’m not ready to stop this fight for my life. I still have lots of memories to make and life teaching to give, especially as a Mum.
Your help would mean the world to me. Every donation, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to the treatment I desperately need. Your kindness will not only help me fight this battle but will also give me a chance to live without the constant pain and discomfort that I’ve been enduring.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Your support means everything to me, and I am determined to fight this with everything I have. Together, we can make a difference.
With all my heart,
Gemma Flannigan
