A wild and precious life, intricately pieced together by my loving God. I am so enthralled by what Jesus has done for this precious life of mine. How can I not lay down my life in return?
Since 2010 I have had a dream of starting my own Occupational Therapy clinic in the downtown area of Dayton, OH. This is a community that is underserved, as many of them are on Medicaid or Medicare and their therapy visits are limited or not covered at all once they are out of the hospital. My first step in owning my own clinic was to go back to school for a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. As of right now I am finishing my last prerequisite course and am waiting to hear back from a program at Belmont University. But God has put it in my heart to develop a clinic that not only serves the physical needs of these people, but also the spiritual hunger. It is my desire, and God’s, to see healing in a way that the Western world does not operate in any longer- full spiritual healing. So, I have applied and been accepted to Iris Ministries Harvest School in Mozambique. This ministry is run by Heidi and Rolland Baker, two lovely people of God who have been missionaries since 1979. They have learned how to operate from a place of spiritual healing, something I hope to learn from them! While I am in Mozambique I will sit under their teachings Monday-Thursday from 8-1 pm. In the evenings, I will be able to play with the children that live at the orphanage or help in the medical clinic. On Fridays we will be doing ‘practical’ missions where we assist in the baby home, around the complex, or at the medical clinic. Saturdays will be my day for rest and to go out into the village to make friends or call home at an internet café. Sundays will be spent serving at the church and helping around the complex. My goal is to learn how to facilitate spiritual healing before completing my education in physical healing here in the United States.
