Missy's Ovarian Cancer Fundraiser!
Dear friends,
We are sharing Melissa Arnone's story with you first and foremost to ask for prayers, but also to help start a fundraiser to help her get through a very difficult time.
In September 2014, after experiencing some odd symptoms, Missy was immediately referred to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where she diagnosed with stage 2 Ovarian cancer at the age of 33.
As if the cancer diagnosis was not devastating enough, she would soon learn that in addition to surgery and 6 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy, she would need a full hysterectomy to prevent the cancer from returning. At 33 years old, that was heartbreaking news, especially when Missy had planned to start a family in the next few months.
In September, Missy had her first surgery to remove the cancer. At that point, she was given the the option to undergo treatment which would give her the chance to start a family via surrogacy. Missy knew this would be her one and only shot to start her own family before having her full hysterectomy, so she made the decision to start treatment immediately. The treatment was a SUCCESS!
Shortly afterwards, Missy underwent a full hysterectomy, and has currently finished two rounds of chemotherapy. Due to the aggressive nature of the chemo, it has left her weak and ill at times, but she is a FIGHTER and is not going to give up. I have personally seen so much determination and positivity in her spirit. She is an inspiration to all of us.
As many of us know from loved ones who have been in similar situations, the medical bills tend to pile up. We are asking for any help possible to help Missy with her medical bills and also to contribute to this fund which will help her start her ultimate dream of motherhood. After everything that she has been through, there is nothing that could possibly bring more joy to her heart than beating Ovarian cancer and to hold her newborn baby in her arms. We want to try and help her achieve both in any way possible, so we are asking for your help.
Anything that you can contribute would mean the world to her, even prayers.
