As many of my friends know, but for those of you who don't, my awesome coworker and friend, Maketa Watson, has a son named Mathias (affectionately called Mickey by his family & friends).
A year ago, Mickey began complaining of a headache one Saturday...it never let up all day. By Sunday evening , he suddenly lost his vision. He was taken to the E. R. and a nightmare began to unfold for him and his family: a brain tumor.
Since that diagnosis, Mickey has fought hard to not only beat this cancer, but also to graduate high school . He has been successful in one of the two: he graduated from Bolingbrook High school 2 and a half weeks ago (see pic below).
The very afternoon of his graduation, he experienced a grand mal seizure, which was a sign his tumor had returned for a 7th time - larger and now inoperable.
But for a miracle of God, Mickey will enter heaven. Soon.
Maketa has used ALL her paid time off, during this fight, burned through all available FMLA (which is unpaid) and has now been given a personal leave of absence from her employer, but it is also unpaid.
This GoFundMe is to assist his mother as she walks this last mile with him. She should be able to be at his side, not miss the chance to say good by, because she had to be at work to keep her lights on. She will also need help with final expenses.
I ask all to consider the situation and bless her financially at this difficult time. Of course, she needs your continued prayers...money will only help physical needs, not a broken heart.
It's what we CAN do in the face of all we can't.
