Miracles for Monica

The definition of a miracle is a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.

If you know her, have crossed her path, or been fortunate enough to call her a friend, you know it’s one of the many words that describe Monica Canova.

Inside this wonder woman is a joy, kindness and generosity that spills out to everyone she meets. She has a purity of heart and spirit that is certainly unexpected and not often observed in the world today. And Monica would be the first to tell you it’s her faith in a powerful God that is the source of her strength the ‘why’ behind how she lives her life. Yes, Monica fits exactly the definition of a miracle, fitting because she’s been a miracle for so many others. But now she needs a miracle of her own.

You see, late last year, Monica suffered an extremely rare spinal stroke that left her paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair.

Most people would have given up after all this pain and adversity but not Monica. For the past nine months she’s focused on rehab, healing and getting stronger. Perhaps most amazing is that many people had no idea she was going through this. Monica has relied on close friends and family, along with her personal savings to get her through. But the months of in-patient rehab and therapy have drained her savings. Even after all this, she continues to be courageous, optimistic and fiercely faithful. As she continues out-patient rehab in Baton Rouge, let’s be a blessing to her just as she’s blessed so many others. The world needs more miracles and more Monicas. Be a part of her miracle.
