Support Jared through cancer treatment
Donation protected
Recently my brother in law Jared was diagnosed with a rare cancer, Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, after discovering a lump in his mouth. By the grace of God, there appears to be no spread of the cancer at this time and the aggressive tumor in his palate will be removed next Thursday, 2 July. Because of the tumor’s size, he will have a custom implant inserted to cover the hole it will leave, but the implant is very expensive- $10,000 and since it is out of network only a portion of it will be covered by insurance. There are multiple out of network services, as well as many trips to UCLA (4-5 hours each way) and hotel/gas costs which have already started to add up financially for my sister Kayla and Jared.
Jared recently completed Sheriff Academy and his department has been wonderful to make sure his job is secure and they have been incredibly supportive of him. He will undergo treatment and rehab which will most likely consist of radiation therapy. However because he has been with the department less than a year, he does not qualify for FMLA and will not be paid the majority of the time he is recovering from treatment since he only has about 4 weeks of paid leave, a minimum of 6-8 weeks. The doctor has written him out of work until November which is 4 months of being on disability. This, in addition to the costs of the treatment and recovery will cause an enormous financial strain for Kayla and Jared.
On top of all this, Kayla and Jared are expecting their third baby in early August, so the timing couldn’t be more stressful!
I humbly ask that you consider giving to my sister and her husband, to help them weather this storm and relieve some of the financial burden. They are both such kind, amazing people who have dedicated their lives to serving God and others. Their beautiful children, Lilly, Calvin, and new baby will no doubt be impacted as well through all the uncertainty. Your gift will help support their whole family and will mean so much to them, and to those of us who love them. Thank you!
