This Gofundme is for our beloved dog Tommy. On a very rainy night, in the week leading up to Thanksgiving, Tommy and our other dog Remy got out of our home. A kind stranger spotted Remy, called the number on his name tag, and we were able to recover Remy. Unfortunately, Tommy was still missing. Coincidently, another kind stranger saw us picking up Remy and asked if we were looking for another dog. He told us there was a dog nearby on the main street, but looks like he was hurt. We moved quickly and found Tommy, lying on the sidewalk of a busy main street, cut up and unable to move his legs. He had clearly and tragically been struck by a vehicle and left there without any help, in the rain.
We rushed him to the nearest open vet hospital, where he received emergency care and one surgery that required over night hospitalization. He has suffered deep wounds in his legs that required stitches and had a fractured elbow and hip dysplasia that required the care of an orthopedic specialist. A few days later, once he recovered a bit from his initial surgery, Tommy underwent two orthopedic surgeries for his hip and elbow.
Tommy’s spirit and resilience have kept us going. We are so proud of him. His will to live and composure have been so inspiring to witness as his family. Watching him struggle to move and play has been heartbreaking, but his spirit remains unbroken. He’s determined to heal, and every small step he takes fills us with hope.
The funds raised will go directly toward Tommy’s vet bills, surgeries, medications, and ongoing care. Every day, Tommy shows us his determination to heal—he gets excited for his slow, therapeutic walks, likes to catch his ball while laying down, and soaks up all the extra love and attention. Though his recovery has been slow due to the three separate surgeries, seeing his joy and progress gives us hope that with time and support, he’ll be back to his active and very playful self soon.
I am truly grateful for your time in learning about Tommy’s incident and current road to recovery. He is the sweetest and most playful dog I have ever known, with a massive love for life and his family. The holidays are here and times are tough, but any bit of support means the world to us. I love Tommy with all my heart. Thank you for being part of our community and for helping Tommy get back to better health.
