Join Heather in Amaya's Healing Journey

Hi! I want to help my friend Heather and her special dog Amaya. They are two of a kind and deserve a happily ever after. Unfortunately, Amaya has been beset with medical issues, and Heather with medical bills. After having already spent thousands of dollars on Amaya, Heather now faces $10,000 more for knee surgeries (two!)

Here’s Heather telling their story:

“This isn't about me, it's about Amaya. She's a victim and has had some difficulty with adjustments following a despicable past. As a result, her ability to trust is compromised, and she doesn’t conform to ideas of being a pet. Amaya should have the right to be who she is and not have to worry about what most people think regarding how a dog should act. Amaya is a beautiful soul. She's the snuggliest, smartest, silliest creature to ever carry a stuffed animal.

When Amaya was 6 months old her rescuer witnessed a horrid act of violence committed on her. Amaya was rescued on the spot and brought in for medical attention. Unfortunately, the injuries sustained from that incident are considered pre-existing to her medical coverage. Anything involving her spine to her hind legs, right to her toe beans. Amaya just underwent her first of two surgeries to repair her torn CCL ligaments.

Amaya's medical bills have already exceeded $5000 trying to prevent the inevitable. Both knees needing TPLOs. With the total cost of both TPLO surgeries and physical therapy to follow exceeding $10,000, her rescuer needs assistance.

What is perfect? I'm not perfect, how could I expect any other living creature to be. I am very selective of the people I let into my life, why shouldn't I allow another living being to do the same? I just want her to live her best possible life, on her own terms.”
