Dear Family & Friends,
Late last year, Danny and I received the worst phone call of our lives. My doctor delivered the news that I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. At the time, we were living together but still only dating. We were scared, confused, angry, stunned and mostly sad. I looked at him and said "I know this isn't what you bargained for, so if you want to part ways, I totally understand." A few days later, Daniel got down on his knee and proposed to me.
As many of you know, my interior design business is my life. I've been building it for over 5 years and I am so proud of the business we have become! However owning your own small business comes with many challenges, one of which includes affording decent health care insurance. When Daniel proposed, we set a date at City Hall and were married on February 2nd, 2023. It was small and fast but also perfect. From that day forward, I have been covered graciously under Danny's health insurance plan however as time has passed, my particular health crisis has continued to complicate.
My surgery on March 1st was expected to be around 3 hours but ended up being 7 hours because of the complexity of my tumor. Although my surgery was very complex and intricate, it was not successful in removing all of the cancer. After healing from surgery, the next step was undergoing a treatment option called Radioactive Iodine Therapy. It had a 70% chance of working to rid the remaining cancer from my body (which now exists in my neck area still and has metastasized to my lungs as well). We just recently received news that the treatment did not work. The plan now is to start radiation which will require me to travel back and forth to the hospital five days a week for 6 weeks.
While I am VERY fortunate to have health insurance, unfortunately, that does not mean that unexpected medical bills haven't caused a financial burden.
So in lieu of a wedding gift, we are asking to please consider donating to our personal cause of raising funds to help support Lindsay's cancer journey.
As you all know, we were wildly excited to celebrate our marriage together with both families on July 22nd and while it breaks our heart to do so, we have decided to postpone our honeymoon and the party until a future date. Hopefully when I can say that I am officially cancer free!
In the meantime, both Daniel and I will be dedicating ourselves to getting through these next few challenging months together, along with the loving support of our family and friends. you guys. It will be taxing, hard, depressing and confusing, but Lindsay is a warrior and is determined to make it through with a smile on her face.
We love you all and appreciate every single supportive text message, phone call, Instagram post and visit! I truly would not be able to get through such a difficult time in life without my wonderful family.
Thank you for listening to me tell my story - it's not an easy one to share. For those who know me, creating this page has been a challenge.
With all our love,
Lindsay & Danny
