Update 31/8/24
Sadly Morty passed away this morning at 9:46am. He was ready. He was peaceful. my heart is broken and I was never prepared to lose my gorgeous boy. The GoFundMe will now go towards his cremation and bringing Morty home to me, where he belongs.
If anyone would like their donations refunded, please let me know.
Hi my name is Meggie and I am fundraising for my cat, Morty. Morty is a 3 year old tuxedo boy, my very own large-and-in-charge grumpy cat! He is my absolute world. Very quickly Morty has gotten unwell. Sadly yesterday he was found in his own vomit which was pure blood. We first thought he had been hit by a car, but realised he hadn’t left the house all day. We rushed him to the vets where they carried out tests with sadly no answers for us. They were all so lovely and tried to help us the best they could.
We went again today and were sadly told that without a trip to the specialist vet in Bristol, then we would probably lose him in the next 7-10 days. They haven’t seen a case like this before. Just to get an appointment for a consultation at the specialist vet is £250+. Then they would run more tests and likely give him a blood transfusion, with prices for those starting at £3k, along with the other treatments required added on top. Now I know everyone is struggling at the moment, I know we are all in a cost of living crisis. I know we have all been struggling, especially over the last 4 years. But right now my world is ending and I am screaming out for help.
Anything given towards Morty and his treatment is greatly appreciated. Morty has been through everything with me the last 3 years. I rescued him at just a few weeks old from abuse, I then went on to hand rear him myself - sleepless nights and night feeds, rocking him to sleep in my arms when he wouldn’t settle, having to help him clean himself after the toilet, constantly checking on him throughout the day whilst at work to make sure he was okay. He’s my baby. I’ve raised him. He’s been through an abusive relationship with me, countless jobs, heartbreaks, deaths of loved ones, stresses, a house move - everything. Morty has been with me through it all. I can’t imagine life without him. Please please please help me get my boy to a specialist and give him a chance at life. We’ve just moved into a house of our own and we’re building something special, Morts has to be a part of that. I cannot continue without him. Please, if you can spare anything I will forever be grateful.
thank you. From myself and Mortimer Mortilius Maximus
