Thank you for visiting our GoFundMe page. We are both freelance orchestral musicians living and working in Glasgow, and between us we have worked extensively for most of the professional orchestras and ensembles in Scotland. Like many others suffering because of the pandemic, we lost all of our performing work and income almost overnight back in March. For us as young professionals who were both enjoying busy and exciting careers, it was a massive blow to lose all of our engagements over the space of a few days, and we have both felt the emotional, mental and financial impact of this.
As next-door neighbours, we decided together that we had to do something to keep doing what we love. This meant thinking outside the box a little bit, so we’ve spent the last few weeks doing just that. We’ve both been busy composing and arranging totally new music together, inspired by folk traditions from around the world, and also influenced by our classical backgrounds.
We have committed ourselves to creating 12 music videos for you over the next few months. All of the recording, filming and editing has been done by ourselves from home using one mic, a computer and a camera that has been very generously lent to us by a friend. We really hope that this project will allow us to continue making a living from performing music. After composing/arranging each tune, it takes a week in total to rehearse, record, film and edit one of our music videos, so our proposed target of £4800 would allow us a payment of £200 each per week of work.
