Charity hike to Mt Everest Basecamp

Donation protected

Hi world!
My name is Ashey Brazendale, a falling apart 42 year old happily married parent of 2 amazing kids. I am someone who from an early age has been drawn to music, art and people, (not that I can play an instrument or have any artistic skills to shout about). Since lockdown (more so) I have engaged in outdoor activities to aid my own mental health journey. I have my struggles, like many, and found that hiking with friends has helped me along this new path, its formed bonds and gave me a purpose to help others even more than ever. But, I need a bit of help this time around so I come to you, the global online community.

Over the last 3 years I have been successfully involved with 2 national UK 3 peaks challenges for mental health charities but a chance meeting at 2022's Download Festival during Korn's set with Flower and his crew set in motion a friendship and link to his cause, "Metal For Nepal". They are a non-profit organization that brings together the global metal and art community to provide support for people living in poverty through various initiatives including food distribution, community support and ensuring children can access their right to education....Its like I was made to be part of this and we have already started the process with my young daughter being in one of their campaign videos!

in 2024 I aim to take part in a personal journey, taking the long steps up to Mt Everest Base Camp in order to raise money for the charity and to also return to the start point carrying as much litter/left Oxygen tanks I can in order to preserve the natural beauty we are blessed to have. I need to raise some funds in order to get over to Kathmandu and to add to the fund

This charity hit home just how lucky I am being born where I was in the world, I am no way a wealthy person monetary wise but my heart is full, (theres been times I questioned that because I struggle with self belief/worth). we as parents work hard to provide the best we can and our children have managed to have opportunity's that some have not, going to various festivals/gigs from an early age, having the healthcare and education options, the choice to go onto a device and check something at a touch of a button, food in the fridge/cupboards. my children are 10 mins walk away from their primary and high school, all on safe paths and fields, we have no worries about large scale quakes that could jeopardise any of it .
Listening to how Nepal suffered after the 2 HUGE earthquakes back in 2015 and the work that the team has done in the communities out there since makes me want this more for the area.

Please find below some info from the charity's page regarding the most recent project that I hope you will all help me to get over there and raise the money for.
many thanks for reading my story and humbly ask for any donations you are able to provide,
Ash B

We have seen the aftermath of the earthquake while helping relief efforts in villages. In fact, we helped rebuild 300 houses in Kerabari village in Gorkha by coordinating with People in Need, a Czech organization. While these houses were rebuilt, we still need help to rebuild and re-establish schools across Gorkha and its neighbouring districts. We have seen how imperative it is to bolster education in villages not only to keep children in school but to empower them, especially girls (37% of girls still get married before the age of 18). By rebuilding schools, creating engaging curriculum and involving the community, we can ensure children not only stay in school but learn interactively and effectively. The schools that do exist in Nepal operate mainly on memorization and little focus is placed on critical thinking and learning. By mentoring teachers, providing scholarships, children’s books and other learning materials, we strive to revitalize the school system in rural Nepal, especially those schools which have been destroyed or deemed unfit to be taught in after the earthquake.
We’re committed to bringing children in Nepal closer to their dreams, and we need your help.

For millions of people around the world, access to the Internet is a distant dream—but for those who live in Nepal, it’s an even more distant reality. With only 26.62% literacy rate in the Himalayas, quality education and access to computer education is a distant dream.

At Metal For Nepal, we are committed to bring our children closer to their dream. Join “And Computer For All” campaign to make children in Nepal become computer literate. At Phase 1, 100 computers, 10 computers each for 10 schools are needed.

Let's do this together!

Every $100 we receive will secure one computer for our project at Metal For Nepal.
