13 year old Sexual Assault Victim - Support

Hello Community and friends,

On March 5th, 2024 a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at the Terwillegar Recreation Center in the worst way. This girl and her family have lived in and contributed to our community for well over 10 years and although I cannot name them for privacy and protection reasons, I am certain that a lot of you know them. The Mother of this child, who has overcome significant medical challenges of her own, has dedicated herself to raising her two children single-handedly, and although she is a resilient and strong woman, this horrific violation of her daughter has been devastating in every way.

As a close friend who shares a deep bond with the family, I am personally invested in their well-being and recovery. I've witnessed firsthand the challenges they are facing and the toll it is taking on them. This brave young soul and her family are now on a challenging journey towards healing, burdened not only by emotional scars but also by the financial strain of missed work and what is adding up to be significant therapy bills.

It is with a heavy heart and a strong sense of responsibility that I reach out to our community, the community this happened in, for support. Let’s rally our community to extend a lifeline of support for this 13-year-old girl and her family who now must navigate through this difficult chapter in their lives.
