Let me tell you about my best friend.
Myra and her 6 year old daughter started life over. They recently moved from Georgia to Michigan. Myra had a job lined up and she was staying with her parents while saving up to get their own apartment. She did it! She saved up and signed a lease on her first place for just her and her little girl.
She flew down to Georgia to get their belongings and rent a uhaul to bring it all up to Michigan. During the night, someone stole her full uhaul. All of her daughters memories gone. Their furniture, everything was stolen.
So she had to fly back to Michigan empty handed.
Her friends and family rallied and helped her find everything to replace what was stolen from her.
As of last weekend, she was finally settled. She posted pictures on facebook of her apartment. Fully decorated, and fully furnished with everything they needed. As her friend of 30-ish years, I was ecstatic seeing her apartment. We were making plans for me to come visit her soon.
Then yesterday her apartment complex was evacuated. There was a big fire.
She learned last night that everything they have is once again gone. Her quilt her mom made. Her furniture her mom gave her to replace her stolen furniture. Everything.
My heart is literally broken.
How many times does someone need to be knocked down?
I have no doubt she will get back up. Because that is what she does.
I have no doubt that people will rally for her, because thats what we do.
I just wish it wasnt so hard for her.
