Sadly, we share with you that Myo Min Khin died on May 26 at 12:01 Bangkok time. His cremation was held on May 30th. Ash scattering on May 31st on the Chao Phraya River.

Myo Min Khin was 8 months ago diagnosed in Yangon with Stage IV Hodgkins Lymphoma. He is now receiving treatment at Chulabhorn Hospital in Bangkok. Costs for chemo, other medication, tests, medical appointments, food, room rental fall on Ko Khin alone. All donated funds will be sent to Myo Min Khin directly.

We want to see Myo Min Khin recover. May he continue to explore his remarkable gifts such as the projected protest image included above which alerted the world to Myanmar's violent military coup of 2021 and subsequent ongoing suppression of democracy. Myo Min Khin initiated projection mapping art in Myanmar.

I am musician Katherine Young. A circle of friends developed performance projects in Myanmar with Myo Min Khin from 2011 onward. We honor our friendship with Myo Min Khin by helping him with his health emergency.

From Myo Min Khin:

I am a filmmaker from Myanmar. I mainly do film editing but I also create visual artwork. I became sick eight months ago. I thought it was just a normal fever. I took pills and it was better after two weeks. However, my body has become debilitated since then. I simply thought this was a side effect of the fever, so I didn’t go for treatment. After five months, my condition worsened and my gums started bleeding. It was then I learnt that I received my diagnosis of Lymphoma. Due to Myanmar’s precarious medical situation and ongoing political and societal severe crisis, I went to Bangkok for treatment. Since I am a film maker, I hope to direct a feature film before I die. I am grateful and acknowledge to those who help me to make my dream come true by supporting my medical expenses. Thanks to you all!

ကျွန်တော်က မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ မှ filmmaker တစ်ယောက်ပါ၊ အဓိကလုပ်တာတော့ ဖလင်အယ်ဒီတာပါ ဒါပေမဲ့ visual artwork တွေလည်း လုပ်လေ့ရှိပါတယ်။ ပြီခဲ့တဲ့ ၈ လလောက်က ကျွန်တော်ဖျားပါတယ် ပုံမှန်ပဲရိုးရိုးဖျားနာတယ်ထင်ပြီး အိမ်မှာပဲဆေးသောက်ကာ ၂ ပါတ်လောက်ကြာတော့ အဖျားပြောက်ပါတယ် ဒါပေမဲ့လူက အားနည်းပြီးကျန်ခဲ့တယ် ဒါကိုလည်း ဖျားထားလို့ ဖြစ်တာထင်ပြီး ဆရာဝန်မပြခဲ့ပါဘူး၊ အဲ့လိုနဲ့ ၅ လလောက်ကြာတဲ့အခါမှာ မသက်သာဘဲ သွားဖုံးများကပါသွေးများယိုလာသည်အထိ အခြေအနေဆိုးလာတဲ့အတွက် ဆေးရုံပြရာ Lymphoma သွေးကင်ဆာ ဖြစ်နေမှန်းသိရတယ်။

အဲ့လိုနဲ့ ကုသဖို့စဉ်းစားတဲ့အခါ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံရဲ့ ဆေးပညာအတွေ့အကြုံအရ နဲ့ နိုင်ငံရေးမတည်ငြိမ်မှုအရရော ထိုင်းနိုင်ငံ ဘန်ကောက်မှာ ဆေးကုဖို့ ဆုံးဖြတ်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ထုံးစံအတိုင်း ကျွန်တော်ဟာ ရုပ်ရှင်သမားတစ်ယောက်ဖြစ်တဲ့အတွက် မသေခင်ကိုယ်ပိုင်ဒါရိုက်တာလုပ်ထားတဲ့ feature film ရိုက်သွားချင်ခဲ့တာပေါ့။

အဲ့ဒီအိပ်မက်ကို အကောင်အထည်ပေါ်ဖို့ ဆေးကုသစရိတ် ကူညီပေးသူများကို ကျေးဇူးအထူးတင် အသိအမှတ်ပြုပါတယ်။
