Myles Gets Top Surgery
Donation protected
Hi!
For those of you that don't know me, I am Myles. I am transgender, and have been on Hormone Treatment for a year! The next step in my transition is getting Top Surgery to help me feel like I am at home in my body.
Having this gender affirming surgery is imperative to my mental health and well being. Having the ability to look in the mirror, to see a body that I recognize as mine, and can associate with my gender, would be life changing. It boils down to simple things. Knowing that I can wear my favorite shirt now because my chest is flat. Even just being able to stand straight and tall, without feeling like my chest is visible.
Most everyone knows that knows me knows that I am a musician. I have taken a step back from that part of my life to focus on becoming who I really was this whole time. Finding comfort in my body will help my brain regain focus on creating and playing again, which is a huge part of who I am.
My current goal is soft. As I meet with a surgeon in the coming weeks I will learn more about my financial need, and update my goal accordingly. What I do know is that my insurance will not cover this surgery, and it runs anywhere between $6,000-$10,000. Aside from just the base cost of surgery, I will be out of work for a few weeks so I can recover properly. Having buffer funds for my monthly rent, utilities, groceries, and post surgery needs would make this process a lot smoother. The last thing I want to do is worry about anything other than making sure I can recover as best as I can.
Contributing to my surgery is an incredible way to show your support for my transition. But I do understand that donating isn't completely feasible for everyone, so sharing is another great option!
